CLEAN: Climate Literacy, Empowerment, And iNquiry
CLEAN is a graduate-run organization with the goal to teach the science behind climate change in a positive and empowering way. We design curriculum and visit classrooms across Orange County, CA to teach and lead public discussions on climate change. I have lead the Paleoclimate lessons for two years and have participated in the Weather and Climate presentations.
Skype-A-Scientist
Skype-a-Scientist matches scientists with classrooms around the world. I Skype with matched classrooms for 45-60 minute Q&A sessions that covers my expertise and what it is like to be a scientist. I have been been matched with 10+ classrooms from the United States, Canada, and Hong Kong! I often show my caving gear (i.e., caving helmet, head lamp, harness and carabiners) and my stalagmite samples. I love chatting with young scientists on what I do in the field, why I study climate, and how they can be scientists too.
In March 2018, I had the humbling opportunity to turn Skype-a-Scientist into Meet-a-Scientist! I went to an international K-6 school to talk to 150 Year 3 students about caves and climate (see photos below!)

zotCAMS: Student Chapter of the American
Meteorological Society at UCI

The mission of zotCAMS is to foster undergraduate and graduate involvement in atmospheric and climate science. Our organization aims to promote undergraduate retention in atmospheric and climate science by supporting atmospheric and climate science career paths. We advocate for student research opportunities, aid in the preparation for continuing education, and stimulate professional development in atmospheric and climate science.
I served as the Vice-President during 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 academic years and acted as the external liaison between our organization and guest speakers and coordinate events with other local chapters.
